Vite Reflects On Becoming The First Mexican DJ To Perform At UNVRS Ibiza

After nearly three decades immersed in electronic music culture and 13 years as a professional DJ, Vite is preparing for one of the most significant moments of his career. On June 25, the Mexican artist will make his debut at UNVRS Ibiza during FISHER’s residency, becoming the first Mexican DJ to appear on a lineup at what many consider the most talked-about new club in the world.

The achievement arrives as part of a particularly important year for Vite, who is also embarking on one of the most extensive European tours of his career while continuing to expand his work through SINNER and his role as Musical Director at Vagalume Tulum.

Speaking to Mixmag, he reflected on the long journey that led him to this moment, the lessons learned along the way, and what lies ahead.

For Vite, becoming the first Mexican DJ to perform at UNVRS represents both a personal achievement and a point of pride for Mexico’s electronic music community.

“It fills me with pride to be the first Mexican DJ to perform at UNVRS, or the first to appear on a UNVRS lineup. Today, it is arguably the number one club in the world. While I won’t be playing on the main stage, I’ll be performing at The Bunker, which everyone has told me is the most fun and exclusive room in the club. I’m incredibly happy.”

The performance marks another milestone in a career that has steadily evolved through multiple roles across the electronic music industry.

Like many artists of his generation, Vite’s introduction to electronic music came through television. In 1999, while preparing for school, he discovered a world that felt completely different from everything else he was hearing.

“Without a doubt, 1999 changed my life forever. I remember being very young and not really understanding what kind of music I was listening to. I only knew that it sounded different from everything else that was on television. There was something about those sounds, the energy, and the visual aesthetic of those videos that captivated me, especially The Chemical Brothers, who fascinated me from the very first moment.”

Artists such as Fatboy Slim, Moby, The Prodigy and The Chemical Brothers became early gateways into a culture that would eventually define his life and career.

Unlike many artists who enter electronic music exclusively through DJing, Vite spent years working across multiple areas of the industry, including journalism, promotion, artist management, club operations and programming.

That broader perspective continues to influence how he approaches his career today.

“Absolutely. At the end of the day, it’s all accumulated experience. Having worked in so many different roles within the industry has given me a very broad understanding of how the electronic music ecosystem functions. All of those experiences continue to influence the decisions I make and help me maintain a clear vision of where I want to go as a DJ.”

The experience has helped him navigate an industry that continues to evolve at a rapid pace.

This year marks Vite’s thirteenth anniversary as a professional DJ, a milestone that naturally invites reflection on the factors that have sustained his career over the long term.

For him, success has never been about comparison or chasing trends.

“Consistency and always moving forward. Never compare yourself to anyone else. Every DJ has their own pace and their own story. Playing the music that genuinely speaks to you in the moment has been one of the decisions that has kept me in this industry.”

“The combination of consistency, authenticity and patience has been essential in getting me to where I am today and still enjoying the journey after all these years.”

Those principles remain central to his approach as his international profile continues to grow.

The months ahead will see Vite perform across Ibiza, Barcelona, Istanbul, Paris, Budapest, Marbella, Poland and Cyprus as part of one of the busiest touring schedules of his career.

The demands of such an extensive run require discipline both on and off stage.

“A tour of this magnitude is definitely a major challenge, especially because any sense of routine completely disappears.”

“Every week you’re in a different city, with changing schedules, flights, hotels and entirely different environments. That’s why it’s essential for me to maintain certain habits that help me stay balanced: getting as much rest as possible and eating as healthily as I can, even though that isn’t always easy when you’re constantly travelling.”

“And dedicating time to meditation to keep my mind calm and focused.”

Among all the destinations on this year’s schedule, Ibiza occupies a particularly important place.

Alongside his debut at UNVRS, Vite will also perform at Cova Santa, Teatro Pereyra, Akasha and Chinois, further strengthening a connection that has developed over many years.

“I love it. Ibiza holds a very special place in my life. To me, it has always felt like a kind of paradise, not only because of everything it represents for electronic music, but also because of the personal experiences I’ve had there throughout the years. It’s an island with a unique energy that continues to inspire me every time I visit.”

“I know incredible people who live on the island and make me feel at home every time I go. That affection is completely mutual.”

One of the defining characteristics of Vite’s schedule is its diversity. From intimate showcases to major international festivals, every environment demands a different approach.

Rather than viewing adaptation as compromise, he sees it as part of the craft.

“Every gig is special. I always do my homework and prepare a unique selection for every event. I research who is playing before and after me so I can understand where I fit musically.”

“For me, adapting doesn’t mean changing who you are as an artist. It means finding the best way to express your identity within each situation.”

Another important chapter in Vite’s career has been his long-running collaboration with Miganova.

Together they have developed SINNER from an idea into an internationally recognised brand while sharing stages across multiple countries.

“I think the key to our collaboration has always been communication. We genuinely enjoy what we do and the process behind it. We understand each other very well musically, the respect is mutual, and we make decisions together.”

That relationship will now continue on one of the industry’s newest and most prestigious stages at UNVRS.

Alongside his touring schedule, Vite continues to play an active role in shaping electronic music culture through both SINNER and Vagalume Tulum.

Those projects have provided opportunities to engage with the industry beyond performing.

“Both sides of my career have been fundamental to my growth and to everything I’ve achieved over the past few years.”

Despite having already performed at major events including Tomorrowland, Untold, SXM Festival, Brunch Electronik and multiple editions of Zamna around the world, Vite views 2026 as another step in a longer journey rather than a final destination.
