Sónar 2027 Reveals First 31 Artists As Sónar By Day Returns To Central Barcelona

Sónar is preparing for a significant transformation in 2027. The Barcelona festival has revealed the first 31 artists for its 34th edition, alongside structural changes that bring Sónar by Day back to the city centre and restore Sónar by Night to its two-night format. Scheduled for 17 to 19 June, the next edition marks a return to the festival’s original relationship with Barcelona while maintaining its position at the intersection of electronic music, technology and contemporary culture.

Among the first confirmed names are Bonobo, Carl Cox, Peggy Gou, Tokischa, Jessie Ware, Yung Lean, KI/KI, Romy, Oscar Mulero and Honey Dijon. The announcement reflects Sónar’s increasingly broad musical identity, bringing together established electronic pioneers, experimental producers and artists working across pop, rap, dembow and underground club culture.

One of the most significant developments is the relocation of Sónar by Day to Barcelona’s central waterfront. The move reconnects the daytime programme with the urban environment that shaped the festival’s beginnings in 1994. Sónar+D will share the same location, integrating its programme of creative technology, research and digital culture directly into the daytime experience.

Sónar by Night will return to Fira Gran Via on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 June. Its four stages, SonarClub, SonarPub, SonarLab and SonarCar, will accommodate the festival’s largest audiovisual productions and international DJ performances.

Bonobo will introduce a new live show built around Distance in Static, featuring stage design by Pierre Claude, whose previous work includes productions for Air, Gesaffelstein and Phoenix. Dominican artist Tokischa will make her Sónar debut, bringing her uncompromising approach to dembow, reggaeton and rap. Jessie Ware will explore the relationship between contemporary pop and disco culture, while Yung Lean returns to the live circuit with the atmospheric sound that helped establish cloud rap during the 2010s.

Japanese experimental artist Cornelius will present Refractions, while New York duo Frost Children will bring their collision of electronic music, pop and alternative influences to Barcelona.

The DJ programme includes several notable returns. Carl Cox will perform at Sónar for the first time in more than two decades, while Spanish techno figure Oscar Mulero returns after a 20-year absence. Peggy Gou and KI/KI represent different directions within contemporary club culture, while Romy will deliver a DJ set rooted in the emotional and communal dimensions of dance music.

Honey Dijon will present her Sinister project, and Chris Liebing will join Speedy J for Collabs3000, a performance combining vinyl selections with live electronic improvisation. Funk Assault, the collaborative project of Alarico and Chlär, will bring its groove-driven approach to techno, while Busy P and Mexican artist Girl Ultra will share the booth for a back-to-back set connecting French Touch, electro, hip-hop and R&B.

Elsewhere, Goldie will finally deliver the live performance originally scheduled for 2026, following the injury that prevented his appearance. Job Jobse, Donato Dozzy & Batu, Aurora Halal, Yu Su, Opal Sunn and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith further expand a programme that moves between experimental electronics, bass music, house and techno.

Beyond the main festival, Sónar Week will extend across Barcelona through Sónar District at Parc del Fòrum, OFFSónar at Poble Espanyol and the return of Sónar Kids.

The changes arrive at a defining moment for the festival. More than three decades after its foundation, Sónar is revisiting the relationship between its musical programming, its audience and the city itself. The 2027 edition suggests that its next chapter will be shaped as much by where the music happens as by who performs it.

Sónar 2027 takes place from 17 to 19 June in Barcelona. SonarPass and SonarPass+D tickets are now available through the festival’s official website.
