Alex Farell announces debut album Youngest In Charge

Alex Farell has announced his debut album, Youngest In Charge, arriving on October 30 via Sara Landry’s HEKATE imprint. The announcement lands alongside the release of its first single, Club Acid, on July 24, offering an early look at a record that traces the different corners of contemporary hard dance and techno through Alex’s own evolving perspective.

Across ten tracks, Youngest In Charge moves between hard techno, trance, acid and psytrance without treating genre as a destination. Instead, the Liverpool producer focuses on momentum, tension and atmosphere, shaping a body of work that reflects both the intensity of the dancefloor and the growing confidence behind his production.

Still only 19, Farell’s rise has been unusually swift. He began DJing at home aged 12 before playing his first club shows at 14, accompanied by his parents due to licensing restrictions. Since then, he has appeared at festivals and venues including Creamfields, Parklife, Blackstone Warehouse, Warehouse Project and Terminal V, building a reputation for fast-paced, high-impact sets that mirror the energy of his productions.

Leading the album is Club Acid, a warehouse-focused cut built around rolling grooves, acidic synth lines and steadily evolving melodic tension. Written during a period when Farell was joining some of the labels that had shaped his own musical development, the track was conceived with the artists he admired in mind, before eventually finding its way into their DJ sets.

“It’s one of my favourite tracks to play on a big stage because it really gets the crowd going wild,” Farell says.

Rather than functioning as a collection of peak-time tools, Youngest In Charge positions Farell at a point where technical precision meets a clearer artistic direction. The album expands beyond straightforward club functionality, exploring scale, dynamics and emotional contrast while remaining firmly rooted in the physical energy of the dancefloor.
